The residents of the City of Arlington are reminded that according to Ordinance #452 which was approved November 2, 2002 regarding the lawn maintenance with the City:

The property owner, tenant or person in possession of any property located within the City shall maintain the lawn in such a manner to allow grass and/or weeds shall not be permitted to grow more than eight inches (8”) in height.

No criminal penalty or billing shall be imposed under this article unless the City causes notice to be given to all owners, tenant or persons in possession of said property within the City that the height of the grass and/or weeds has exceeded the height or eight inches (8”) and that any grass and/or weeds that exceed this height shall be removed within twenty-four (24) hours of reaching that height.
Any person violating the provisions of this article shall be subject to both criminal and civil sanctions.

Also, people need to refrain from blowing their grass clippings out into the streets as these end up in the storm sewers causing problems.  The City pays to have these drains cleaned out to avoid having water back up in peoples basements—however the town is divided into four sections—so drains are cleaned out once every four years.  Thank you!
